Rockpretty Baby [closed]
This summer I began the hunt for School supplies for my little on heading off to Kindergarten. School supplies have changed so much, I wanted to get something unique and fun. My family has also been moving towards a more mindful relationship with our food. We have been moving away from proccesed foods and packaging that cannot be re-used.
I wanted to find molds for making homemade freezies and frozen yogurt. My youngest loves them for teething, my middles is hooked on home-made smoothies and Greek yogurt and I work on my oldest to give up the chocolate obsession (a bit anyways!)
I found a fun looking backpack, with Canadian shipping (jumping for joy!!) and a few clicks latter, my Popsicle molds. The Popsicle molds were out of stock and I used the “chat” leave a message option to ask the owner if there was a chance they would be in stock again. Not only did I get a very fast reply, the item was back in stock right away!
Shipping was quick, pricing reasonable, the items were perfect and the customer service Kelly provided was top notch! I will definitely shop with her again as her store carries a large selection of items not always available in our little city.

The Inspiration
I used to work in the Costume Department of the film industry before kids. I quickly realized, due to the long hours & travel, that it wasn’t going to continue while I had small children. Rockpretty Baby was born shortly after the birth of my 2nd child. I found it difficult, despite being in a large city, to find the variety of the best products in one place. I knew what appealed to me, appealed to many others and many would appreciate the collection the variety of stylish and modern products I could acquire.
What makes your product unique/different?
You never have to leave the comfort of your own home, you don’t have to try to work around sleep schedules to make a outing and we’re always open! I pride myself on our customer service, speedy shipping and desire to please my customers. Today’s parents are conscious, smart and savvy shoppers. Not only do we want a variety of products that are stylish and modern in design but we also want to know how products are made, what they are made from and where they are designed/manufactured. We want only the best for our family and hopefully make as little of an impact on the earth. Rockpretty Baby’s mission is to carry products that fulfill these needs without sacrificing style, design and safety.
What has been the most exciting day since starting your company?
Every day is pretty exciting! I love that created this company completely on my own – web design, day to day operations, everything. I don’t have a business degree, or went to school for web design but I spent many many late nights learning the ins and outs on everything. Lots of mistakes along the way but I’ve persevered and continue to learn every day.
If you could have one super-hero power, what would it be?
I have a super-hero power in my kids eyes – I see and know EVERYTHING! (hehe) I told them I got it at the hospital when I had them. Seriously though, I’d love to fly! I’ve had many reoccurring dreams about flying and every time I wake up, I have a crazy amount of adrenaline flowing and love the rush.
What companies or products inspire you?
I love to follow and support other mompreneurs. I’m always in awe when they succeed because I know how much work it took to be where they are. There are no Cinderella stories, it’s long hours, and lots of hard work plus I know if they have children at home the additional level of difficulty it takes. I also loved reading Zappo’s creator, Tony Hsieh’s Delivering Happiness. It’s exciting to see what one can create!
What’s your best parent tip?
I don’t think I’m the one to go to for parenting tips. I have learnt that one needs to trust themselves. Throw away the books that tell you it needs to be this way or that. Do what works for you and your family. Really, when was the last time you saw a 20 year old walking around with a blankie/soother/bottle co-sleeping with their parents?! lol Each child is so different and what works for one may not work for another. You just need to go with the flow! Oh and of course a quote from my idol Oprah “Do the best you know how to do, and when you know better you do better”
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned as a working mom {so far}?
You can’t do it all, sometimes you’re going to need to ask for help and there’s nothing wrong with that. You need to have that backbone of support behind you. My husband for allowing me to explore all these entrepreneurial aspirations of mine while he helps to holds down the fort, my mom who’s always here every weekend giving me a well deserved break from my rugrats that I love, my dad who’s always offering great business advice especially when I’m down, my customers who are always promoting & inspiring me and of course my kids, who when asked what they want to be when they grow up – “Be just like Mommy…..and maybe a fireman or ballerina” depending on which one you ask. 🙂
