Lisa Steinkey of Smallprint creates beautiful fine silver jewellery of your little ones handprints, fingerprints, drawing, doodles and more. I was not too sure what to expect when I took my little ones in to get their fingerprints done but I have to admit, their little fingerprints are my favorite item to wear now. It’s beautiful, classy and well made. We made a keychain for their daddy for Father’s day. Even my husband was impressed with his gift and carries it with him always.
I love seeing the little prints on my charm bracelet. Lisa was very patient and easy-going trying to capture a 10 month old, a 2 year old and a 5 year old’s fingerprints. Everyone wanted to squish their hands in the clay. She also pays very close attention to detail making sure the prints are captured correctly so your keepsake will looks it’s best.
I may have my eye on the Christmas decorations as well as I am thinking that’s one ornament that would look great for a grandparents tree! My oldest loves to look at the charm bracelet and is so proud of her little print. She tells me how she’s growing up all the time and soon her finder won’t fit in the print anymore. I know too well she is growing up and I treasure this gift very much!
Lisa also books home parties and the mommy group I am active with is excited to book one after summer holidays! We are excited to be giving away a charm bracelet or pendent to one lucky Saskatoon mom. It is a gift you will always treasure.

The Inspiration
I first saw Smallprint while we were living in Sydney Australia. I fell in love with the product as soon as I saw it and never forgot about it. I knew that I wanted to work from home so that I could continue making forts and playing all day with Lachlan. Owning this Smallprint business allows me to do just that. I only work on the pieces while my little man naps. Smallprint Jewellery is sold in 21 different countries around the world by other moms just like me. It is a beautiful product & I am proud to have my name associated with it.
What makes your product unique/different?
Smallprint captures a moment in time- it is her fingerprint, his cute little toes that you tickle & never want to forget or their very first signature that always makes you smile when you look at it. When you wear your jewellery you always have part of your child with you. Created in fine silver it is a keepsake you will treasure forever!
What has been the most exciting day since starting your company?
I am excited each time I open my kiln and see the shiny pendants & charms staring back at me. It was a lot of work to get them to that stage and it brings a smile to my face every time.
What’s your best parent tip?
I don’t know that I am the right one to answer that question. I am a mom of one little boy and I continue to find my way as a parent everyday. I remember wearing a t-shirt when I was a little girl that said “children are people too”. I think of that quote often & try to honour it while we share our days together.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned as a working mom {so far}?
My family comes first. I sometimes have to remind myself of that on the days I am busy and Lachlan cuts his nap short. I purchased this franchise so that I could continue to share his days with him building forts out of couch cushions, mixing up cookie batter together & exploring the world through his eyes.
