So Cute Kids Boutique

I met Heidi this fall at her store location in the farmers market square. I right away loved her location. It’s close to the playground, the farmers market and cafe.  If you go shopping with your little ones, it’s nice to know there are options if they decide it’s not a shopping day.

I was impressed with Heidi’s boy selection of clothes and the variety of items she has in her small store. It was clear to see that she has a wealth of knowledge about the products she carries and as a mom, is always looking for products that are great for kids.

I picked up a pair of Robeez booties for my littlest walker. Hands down one of the best boots for little ones and our weather. What’s even better, I find they fit perfectly into Stonz boots so daycare days are a bit easier knowing I just have to take off the outer boots and she is good to run around with her Robeez.

Next time you are at the farmers market. swing over and take a look at her wonderful store!

The Inspiration

I recently moved back to Saskatoon after 12+ years in Montreal. Before I moved to Montreal, I was a long-time Riversdale resident, so when I came back I was excited to see how much the River Landing development has rejuvenated the area. But I quickly noticed that while River Landing has an awesome new playground, splash park and fun family activities, the area (and the west side in general) was really lacking when it came to the fun and friendly kids boutiques I was used to in Montreal. So I decided it was up to me to bring a nice little kids shop to this family-friendly area.

What makes your product unique/different?

Variety is the key! From bold printed baby sleepers to rocker onesies, from name-brand jeans to licensed CFL and NHL gear, we have something for everyone – and the one-on-one personal service that you can find in small, local businesses. We are also carrying items from local artisans: awesome handmade gifts like gorgeous hair bands and clips, handmade messenger bags in fun prints, and more things coming soon.

What has been the most exciting day since starting your company? 

Woman’s World at CUC was amazing! We had a spot right on the concourse and got to meet so many people in a short time.

If you could have one super-hero power, what would it be?

Omnipresence! I often wish I could be in a few places at once – mostly when I’m not with my kids.

What companies or products inspire you?

One of my favourite brands in the shop is Stonz. They make little booties and mitts that slip on easily – even over shoes – and close with toggles / drawstrings. Such innovative products – and designed by a Canadian mom! I love any product that makes life easier for parents while being super cute at the same time.

What’s your best parent tip?
Live in the here and now! When I am with family, that’s the time I don’t desire that omnipresence. I try to remember to take the time to sit and play and not worry about all the chores and things that need to be done.

What is the most valuable lesson you have learned as a working mom {so far}?

Same as above 🙂 Every moment is precious, so enjoy it now instead of rushing around trying to get things done. There are always things that need to get done, so might as well kick back and put some of them off – because before we know it, the kids grow up and move out.
