Featured Company: Girl Gotch [closed]
I have a tiny tush toddler. We have gotten used to her picking at her bum as panties ride or fall depending on the dance, skip or tirl she is demenstrating.
I hate to admit it, but this summer, she started boycotting wearing underwear. She didn’t like wearing them and would sneek them off at some point in the day. After an embarrasing moment on the monkey bars while she was wearing a dress, I started packing an extra pair in my purse.. you know, just incase.
Then I stumbled on Girl Gotch and was excited to see they made both Breifs and Boxers. They have one inch elastic waitbands that hold without cutting into skin and of course, come in the latest ‘girlie’ colors.
I thought my daughter would be all over the breifs but she surprised me and picked the boxers. She loves to wear dresses and told me they feel better and “don’t pick at my bum”.
Since getting our girl gotch, our panty boycotting days are over. Thank goodness! I also feel better knowing if she’s going to hang upside down in a dress, her girl gotch boxers are covering her up.

The Inspiration
I was frustrated trying to find good quality underwear for my daughter while potty training her. I bought every brand and size in the hopes of finding one that she would wear without complaint. I couldn’t find anything on the market to fit my needs, so I decided that I would design my own.
What makes your product unique/different?
Girl Gotch features a heavier weight fabric so they wash better and last longer. They have a 1 inch covered elastic for the waist, unlike the traditional small elastic that tends to ‘cut’ into the skin or lose it’s shape. Girl Gotch briefs also use material binding around the leg openings for added comfort. Girl Gotch offers 2 styles: brief and boxer. The boxer short is great under dresses or skirts. My girls love the boxers.
What keeps you motivated?
My family for sure. I have these amazing kids and I want to have the flexibility to be home with them while having a career. I want to show my girls that they can do anything that they put their minds to – with dedication and hard work, you can do anything. I love what I do and I want to work hard to ensure that I can keep in doing it.
If you could have one super-hero power. what would it be?
Fly…I always thought that would be cool.
What is the most rewarding thing about running your own business?
I get to work on something that I created. I love seeing what started as a scetch in a notebook has turned into my business. I can go into a store and see a Girl Gotch display, which is such a cool feeling. I also love that my product can bring comfort to little girls.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
I would like to see more colors and a ‘tween’ line with starter bras and camis to go with the underwear. I would like to expand into swimwear as well. I hope that Girl Gotch will be well established in North America and available Internationally. My goal is to have Girl Gotch available in both the mass and boutique markets. I’d like to see Girl Gotch as the #1 choice for girl’s underwear.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned as a working mom {so far}?
Flexibility…I can’t stick to a strict plan. I also try to only work during certain hours. I don’t bring my Blackberry to the park because that is time with my girls. I try to engage in my tasks the best I can. When I’m with my kids, they have all of me, when I’m working – I’m focused on work. It’s a challenge, but I do the best I can and I’m not too hard on myself if things don’t go as planned.
