Greenwood Springs Ranch [closed]
If you have never tried locally grown, natural beef, you are in for a treat! Beef that has grown up without modified grains tastes, and smells so much different than large supermarket meat.
Greenwood spring ranch is a 4th generation family operated ranch committed to providing natural, grass-fed beef of the highest quality, produced through sustainable methods and distributed locally. By dealing directly with their customer, their goal is to provide a transparent system of production and distribution so that their customers can feel confident that they are purchasing only the highest quality food. Operating in this manner serves the interest of the environment, the animals, our communities, and the health of our families.
I have been feeding my family locally grown beef for years after purchasing ground beef from a large supermarket and the smell of the meat cooking made me feel sick.
Natural beef has a wonderful taste and in my option, better quality than commercially grown beef. If you are going to be spending your dollars on a product, I like to know my money is going towards something we are all going to eat and enjoy!

The Inspiration
Many moms are concerned with the quality of food they are providing their families. As a mother myself, I am constantly searching for locally grown, natural (free of hormones, antibiotics, pesticides etc.) meat products. I currently purchase my eggs, chicken and pork from local farmers. I saw the need for a more healthy, local alternative to supermarket beef.
What is the most rewarding thing about being a mom running your own business?
I feel I am providing a product that is superior to the grocery stores. I am helping keep farming sustainable in our province, helping other moms and dads provide a healthy natural product for their families and through my website I am able to educate people about where their food is really coming from so they can make more informed decisions when purchasing their food.
If you could have one super-hero power. what would it be?
Flying of course, I would be the coolest mom on the block! My second choice would be super-hero speed because I wouldn’t have to waste time cleaning.
What advice would you give to a mom or dad considering starting their own business
Be passionate and driven about your idea but remember your family comes first.
What keeps you motivated?
Knowing that I can make a difference in both my families life and others. Knowing that I am giving other families a choice when it comes to purchasing their food.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
My hope is to have collaboration between a number of local farmers. The result will mean that I not only offer natural, grass-fed beef but also natural eggs, chicken, pork and fresh produce, all from one website so that consumers have the convenience of shopping on line, know they are getting a local, healthy product and farming can remain sustainable in our province.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned as a working mom {so far}?
A new business is just like having a new baby, sleep is not that important. I plan to catch up on mine when my 4 yr old twins and eight month old are graduated from college.
