Hospital Bag – What to Pack?

So this is the third time I am headed off to the hospital, and I still don’t know what I should be packing!??? With this baby only a few short weeks away, I am struggling to pack for my husband, baby and me again. You would think I would have this down by now.

My first hospital stay, I packed my pre-pregnancy jeans, a pre-pregnancy top, some make-up and snacks and then realized I had NO clue what I should have packed. I sent my hubby home to bring my items to wear home and shook my head at myself.

Here is what I have – what am I missing!?

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Lotion
  • Lip Gloss
  • Razor
  • flushable wipes
  • wash cloths and make up remover
  • toothbrush and toothpaste.
  • lotion
  • baby blankets
  • nursing bra
  • nursing top
  • pj pants
  • baby sleeper
  • baby take home outfit
  • loose yoga pants
  • brush
  • hair clips/headband
  • deodorant
  • pj pants for hubby
  • pillow
  • ipod (loaded with new movies to watch!)
  • snacks and drinks

Do I need anything else or am I (for ONCE) organized and ready to go!?

  1. sleeper(s) and burp clothes – you may want more than one! and I have to agree on the pads for sure.
but otherwise I must just say, wow – I didn’t have half the things you have listed and I did just fine, but I also only spent one night in hospital and had a quick delivery…
good luck and don’t stress about having everything – just enjoy being with your new family member! If you are there longer than expected, your hubby can always run home to get you some more things!

  2. Socks. I also packed my moccasins but was glad to have socks too. Hospital floors are nasty.

Also I grabbed a box of granola bars for my hubby and he appreciated that.

  3. I was glad to have a deck of cards when I was in the hospital, before the baby was born.

  4. Your camera and diapers. Have fun getting ready!

  5. some panties….maybe that’s a given, but I didn’t see it on your list and I’d hate to see you go with out. (oh and some sanitary pads…the ones at the hospital are rediculously hugh)

  6. Perhaps some nursing pads and nipple cream? And some baby wash/lotion if you prefer to use something other than what the hospital has… list of phone #’s/people to call with the news…cash for parking/vending machines….bathing suit (or bottoms) if you think you might be in the tub prior to delivery…
