Jerry’s Food Emporium [closed]
The rule in our house is on fridays – Mom doesn’t cook. I work all week, cook meals, make school lunches … so come friday – I take the evening meal off. Because I want a night off, our family picks family restaurants that can keep our whole family happy at a time of the day that isn’t always filled with happy kids.
Our default location quickly became Jerry’s for a number of reasons. Great staff, comfortable seating for all of us, amaaaaazing food and even though we all leave too full – we usually grab a bag of ice cream sandwiches or we each spend a good 15 minutes selecting our favorite flavor at their ice cream counter! Anything with sparkles is usually my little ones favorite!
We all leave our Friday supper happy, full and best of all – I don’t have to wash any dishes! We want you to experience Jerry’s too!

The Inspiration
Wanting to be the master of my destiny (if there is in fact something we can actually control… )
What makes your product unique/different?
We are a local independent business. We are passionate about what we do and we are always looking for the best way to make and create our foods and ice creams.
What keeps you motivated?
My two favourite guys! [Jerry and our son Enzo] And dreaming of winters in Italy.
If you could have one super-hero power, what would it be?
The ability to heal with a touch my baby boy when he gets sick. And, if I can sneak another one in here, deliver another one (or two) full term healthy baby (I have lost four thus far… the last one was a baby boy last October).
What is the most rewarding thing about running your own business?
Freedom and surpassing oneself but mainly, freedom, that I can take my boy to gymnastics in the middle of a week day.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
We would like to open more locations to allow us more resources to develop our products, to start our own training academy for our team, to start our own charity, to invest in local businesses and, finally, I am dreaming of writing children’s books with my son.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned as a working mom {so far}?
We are incredible, resilient people. Our ability to love, care for, prepare breakfast just so, to have the right snack on hand, to show up at meetings with ideas and leadership, to make decisions and take risks and yet knowing that tonight should be about the fish puzzle makes us powerful creatures. Our humanity and creativity is bountiful and yet, why are we so hard on ourselves when we are selfless with the ones we love?

I went to Jerry’s or the first time just 2 weeks before my second son was born. He’s now 3 weeks, and with 2 boys under 2 i definitely need a night off from cooking!
